Navigating the city of Athens, can present some challenges, if certain unique aspects are not taken into consideration:

      • rush hours: expect heavy traffic during peak times, particularly between 08:00-10:00 & 16:00-18:00
      • Acropolis hill queues: visitor lines at the Acropolis can vary, depending on the season and time of the day
      • Sunday at Syntagma square: every Sunday at 11:00, the main streets around Syntagma square are closed for the ceremonial changing of the guards, which includes a small parade
      • Special Sunday events: on certain Sundays, running or/and bicycle races may affect traffic and access in parts of the city
      • National Day parades: large parades take place on March 25th and October 28th, in celebration of Greece’s national holidays
      • November 17th Demonstrations: a public rally occurs annually on November 17th, which may impact transportation and city access
